Miss Tipaya Peungcharoenkun

Batch 13 (From KG.3 - Year 12 )

   Education :

The BA Program in Language and Culture , Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University

   Achievements :

There are three major achievements that I am very proud of…
       1. As a public speaker, I was chosen to represent Thailand and Chulalongkorn University in 14th ASEAN University Network and 3rd ASEAN+3 Educational Forum and Young Speaker Contest, held in Indonesia . In this event, we discussed about ASEAN connectivity problems and actions that young leaders could take to tackle the discussed problems. In my speech, I pointed out that the we as the future leaders got 3 main roles which were to think, to be and to do and I suggested that an Active ASEAN+3 Youth Council where young leaders could gather together and worked as a team should be established. I became the finalist and ranked as the 4th best speaker in the region. More importantly, my policy was the final joint statement of that year.
       2. As a debater, I never thought that debate could actually change not only my life but also many children lives. During these past few years, apart from joining many international tournaments, I have been working with both government sectors and private sectors as a mentor in an informal education project to promote critical thinking and effective communication skills. Critical Thinking and Effective Communication Skills can be considered as two of the most important keys to success. I have taught many disadvantaged children to think out of the box, to take a critical look at all challenges and to be confident when they speak. Many disadvantaged children in my class have finally become someone that society recognises. From what I have done, the founder of Harvard University Debate Council’s Workshop invited me to participate in his workshop as a junior instructor. When I was in the workshop, I taught in Public Speaking and Argumentation section. I also had a chance to be a chair person in many rounds of their debate and public speaking tournament.
       3. As a young leader, I was sponsored by Siam Piwat , , the company that owns Siam Paragon and Siam Centre, to be the delegate in One Young World 2015. In this summit, I had a chance to meet many big names like Kofi Annan, Muhammad Yunus, Sir Bob Geldof and many more. I was inspired by all of them and started to believe that I could be the change. I was also given a chance to speak to more than 1,000 delegates from 196 countries and more than that it was televised. The reason why I am so proud of this is not because I was in the event but it is because I make Thailand, my parents, my university and Ektra proud. I remembered texting the director and he responded that “ You are the pride of Ektra and you make me proud” . I could not ask for more…
It is very unexpected, I never thought that I would come this far and I will keep moving forward…

   Feeling towards school :

When I was a student in Sarasas Ektra, I used to question why teachers had to force me to do many activities that I did not even want to do. I used to feel that many assignments that I had to do were ridiculous and useless. However, today when I am looking back I feel that every activity and every assignment are one of the contributing factors to all of my achievements.
Sarasas Ektra has always been a big part of my life. This school has given me so many wonderful opportunities that I believe no other schools in Thailand will ever do. I know how to debate and be able to make it to the top, I become one of the best speakers in both national and international stages, many unexpected opportunities knock at my door because of the support from school and family.I have come this far because I am the product of Ektra. I would like to say thank you to the director and all teachers in school, you truly are my biggest support. I am more than proud to be a part of Ektra’s family. Once Extra, Forever Ektra !
