The teaching and learning process of the secondary department is based on a curriculum that is regularly developed to fit bilingual education but is still aligned with the core curriculum of the Ministry of Education and adapted to society’s requirements. The teaching and learning process focuses on in-depth study, variety of activities and educational quality for the benefit all students.
The secondary department has a student-centered environment where the students are allowed to develop the skills to maximize their capacity in different fields. The school creates opportunities for students to acquire knowledge and skills by getting them to work independently and collaboratively with the teacher as the facilitator. This approach also develops the students’ study skills and is related to their Multiple Intelligences, based on the work of Dr. Howard Gardner at Harvard University. His theory has bought a revolutionary change to education, helping students to develop their potential in various fields and to master the skills required.
Our school also prepares students to cope with the challenges of the 21st century world and to grow up as good citizens of their country. The skills that are enhanced are: thinking skills, creative skills, problem solving skills, collaborative skills (team work), communication skills and technological skills.
Taught both in Thai and in English, the Extra Class Program focusses on enhancing the ability to use advanced English among students whose English language skills are above average. The aim of this program is to implant into the students’ minds confidence in using the English language so that they can apply it for academic purposes and communication at an internationally acknowledged level. Another aim is to enhance the students’ academic awareness so that they possess skills and knowledge necessary for 21st-century education. This will prepare them for using English with confidence in their upper secondary studies, in the programs befitting them and of their interest. The ratio of subjects taught in Thai to subjects taught in English is 30 : 70.
The options available for students to enrich themselves for the future.
M.I. activities adopt the Theory of Multiple Intelligences developed by Dr.Howard Gardner. This theory proposes that each individual has different potentials and different skills. The Multiple Intelligences Theory consists of 8 Intelligences:
The school has used the M.I. Theory to discover different abilities in each student continuously from Kindergarten to Secondary Level. Student’s talents will be evident by the end of Primary school and will be supported in the Secondary level, which will be emphasized on a particular skill, not general as in Primary School Years.
Students will have already found their strength through M.I. activities once in Secondary School Years. School will continue improving students competence each Intelligence, especially in Secondary School Year 9. This will help the students when choosing their fields in Senior Secondary Years 10 - 12 and in the Undergraduate level.
