School Procession for Buddhist Lent 2014

The Buddhist Lent Day marks the day the Buddha asked all Monks to remain inside their particular temples for 3 months. During the past year people made merit giving candles to the monks to make light and offerings to Buddha for the whole 3 months. The Candle Festival is a great cultural show the respect and the agreement of people in the community to continue good culture and to respect Buddhism.
On 10th July 2014, Sarasas Ektra Primary Department sent representatives from Thai and Foreigner Teachers as well as Yr. 6 students to Thongbon Temple for the Candle Festival Procession around the temple grounds. Music teachers played fun songs and walked around the Temple 3 times. After that everyone presented Candles and bath robes along with merit money totaling 3,000 Baht to the monks and listened to a sermon and received blessings for the good things in life.

(During this time, the Primary Department also sent a cash donation to the Monk Hospital in the amount of 9,460 baht.)
