Asalha Puja Day and Buddhist Lent Day Activities 2017


           On July 7th 2017, Sarasas Ektra School hosted some activities to celebrate Asalha Puja Day and Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent Day), with the aim of carrying on Thai traditions and upholding Buddhism. There were various activities held as detailed below.

Infant Department:

           There was an excursion to Phomankunaram Temple joined by representatives of teachers and students. This excursion was arranged to allow students and teachers to contribute offerings, candles and robes to the monks. A sum of 4,139 baht was also donated to the temple. The participants also had the opportunity to listen to a sermon. After that, they were led for a temple tour by the monks and learnt about the architecture of the temple’s walls. The students had a chance to learn about the temple and gain an experience of going to make a donation.

Primary Department:

           The representatives of teachers and students went to Sai Temple (Rama 3) to present offerings, candles, light bulbs and a sum of 8,000 baht to the temple. The participants had a chance to listen to the sermons and receive blessings for good luck and prosperity.

Secondary Department:

           The teachers and students participated in a trip to PhaiNgoenChotanaram Temple. They organised  the candle procession for Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent) with the entertaining instrumental music by the school’s music teachers. Next, they offered candles, robes, offerings to the monks and donated a sum of 8,607.50 baht to the temple.
