Summer Camp 2017 (Secondary Department)

SarasasEktra’s Secondary Department organised a Summer Camp for 2017. There were for students from Yr.7-Yr.12 and was held from March 27th to April 28th,2017. There were various activities in the camp which enabled the students to practice manythings on their own and to gain new and firsthand experiences.The students were also academically prepared for the next semester’s Thai and English subjects. There were some highlights on learning supportactivities as detailed below:
- The Trips:
There were several school trips that let the students gain firsthand experiences such as visiting Siriraj Bimuksthan Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, and Thai PBS TV Station etc.
- Learning outside the Class:
The students had opportunities to practice their mathematical skills in the simulation platform such as “Ektra Marketing”. Additionally, they practiced their scientific skills by having real practice in a laboratory, which included the use of a microscope to examine plants and animals’ cells, and investigating the internal organs of living things such as frogs.
- Special Workshops:
• Science Programme: Driven by the “STEM Education” Concept, the school organised the Lego Bridge Building Competition, where the students learnt to create and design their own bridge made of Lego pieces.
• Arts Programme: There were interesting activities which included Creative Media Design and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
- M.I. Activities:
The M.I bases(Multiple Intelligence Clubs) were opened according tothe students’intelligences and interests such asArt & Design, D.I.Y., Drama, STEM etc. This encouraged the students to do activities by themselves.
- Summer Camp 2017’s Closing Activities and M.I. & STEM Activities Presentation
The activities were organisedto let the students present the work from their STEM groups using English through the presentation. They had also learnt about Economics through the buying and selling and the exchange of goods using money.Furthermore, the studentsstudied about a persuasive language for advertisement.Additionally, they learnt how to create Healthy Menu from their STEM class. Finally, the students from each M.I. showed the work from their design, creativity, and invention. Yr.4-Yr.6 students came to join these activities to observe, gain knowledge, have fun, and end their Summer Camp 2017.
