ASEAN Youth Camp – “Read ASEAN : Past, Present and Future”
At Innovative college of Thammasat University, Pattaya
15-18 October 2012

There were 90 participants in the camp 80% are Thai and 20% are from 7 of our neighbor countries. It’s a pity that participants from Singapore and Brunei could not join us. However, in replace, TK Park invited two lecturers from those two countries to the event.
In the camp, we mostly used Thai language in communication because most of the Thai participants came from the border of Thailand and have low English speaking skill. English was usually been using in personal for communication with the foreigners, to explain or enumerate the work. It is also used to interview our neighbor for information that came from a real host of that country.
The Activities were divided into 4 parts
First – “Lecture” for an honorable lecturer in 3 topics which comprised of “History of the ASEAN’s countries” by Professor Akkarapong kumkoon, “ASEAN economic cooperation” by Professor Morakotwong Phoomplub, and “Creating an electronic media” by Mister Pornchai Chansupasang.
Second – “Work shop” as a group in 3 missions: “Acrylic painting” in the Theme “ASEAN in 2015”, “Creating an electronic media about ASEAN”, and “Presentation as a show” in the “ASEAN Night.”
Third – “Answering the question” during the meal. They provided a board in front of the dining room which contains questions and choices. We can answer them by sticking a sticker that represents our group in the answer which we think is correct. This is one way to earn the score for prizes in the closing ceremony.
Forth – “Present” the ASEAN electronic media in the closing ceremony at Thailand Knowledge Center (TK Park). The presentation was shot as a live show on internet in “www.tkpark.or.th” and will be re-opened on television in the program name “TK Teen” which shows every Sunday (Our presentation do not have an exactly show date but will be announce via facebook).
I’ve got plenty of good memory from this camp. I’ve got knowledge, fun, creativity, and the most important thing is 89 more friends! After finish this camp I realized that nowadays it is not that important to develop our country to prepare ourselves for ASEAN Economic Community, but it is more important to unite with our neighbor first. I wish that someday a great activity like this will be held again and I hope that I will be invited to have this amazing time once more.
Lastly, I would like to thank you TK Park and the school which chosen me to be one of the ninety representative to join this camp and gain this much knowledge. I will make sure that this opportunity they have given me will not be useless because I will do as much as I can to be a small power to push this country forward and prepare ourselves for 2015 ASEAN Economic Community.
