Her Majesty Queen Sirikit was born on the 12th August. The Council of Social Welfare of Thailand under patronage of His Majesty the King set up this day to be National Mother’s Day. Sarasas Ektra Primary Department held it’s Mother’s Day Celebration on Friday, 8th August 2014 to praise the Queen and to recall all Mothers importance. There were activities in both the morning and afternoon. In the morning Year 2-Year 6 students, teachers and parents joined together at the auditorium to celebrate Mother’s Day, followed in the afternoon with a special gathering for Year 1 students, teachers and parents.
Year 2-Year 6 Morning Celebration:
- Thai Classical Dancing salutation for H.M. Queen Sirikit and a Thai Classical Music show.
- An Ektra Junior Chorus performance of “Thank to you.”
- An Ektra Primary Chorus performance of “You raise me up.”
- The Mini Orchestra performed “When you believe” and other instrumental Music.
After that it was the time to announce the results of all Mother’s Day Competitions:

4.Mother’s Card contest “Power of Love”
The winner of singing contest is Miss Patarajaree Vanichvongvan of Year 5D. She made an encore performance of her song showing her skill and talents in signing.
The winners of writing English Essay were Mstr. Kasidis Thirakaroonwongse Year 5E and Miss Sophia Gail Montgomery Year 6E who re-told their essays centre stage with passion and the emotion due to their Mothers on this special day.
The morning celebration concluded by inviting Mums of students who joined the activities and won the awards to come on stage and be presented with beautiful jasmine flowers showing the love and recall of mothers importance.
In the Afternoon celebration the performers gave a second round to the eager audience of Year 1’s and their Mums but also sang a special song for their mothers. The afternoon concluded once again with students presenting their special Mum’s with jasmine flowers. It was a very emotional sight to behold!
