Our Infants Department hosted their 4th annual Cultural Day celebration on the 20th of November, 2015. Each year the day is based around different themes, this year our theme was all about: Music and Dance. The activities ran from 8.30 – 11.00am, allowing students to learn about a variety of cultures and traditions from different countries around the world such as, Thailand, Korea, Japan, China, Africa, Australia, America and Canada etc. Each group had a base to represent their country which was run by teams of parents and teachers together.
Our NC – KG3 students had the opportunity to visit several bases and participate in the activities run by each base. There were 9 bases in total representing their countries:
1) Japan Base
2) Philippines Base
3) America Base
4) China Base
5) South Africa Base
6) Australia Base
7) Thailand Base
8) Korea Base
9) France Base
Each base aimed to teach students about the culture, music – learning new styles and language skills from singing songs and dances from that particular country etc. To launch the day parents and teachers from specific countries presented a short dance performance that represented their country.
Our Cultural Day activities help to build students’ general knowledge, language, music and cultural awareness of different countries around the world. Activities such as these conform to the M.I - In Body and Movement skills as well as, Language and Communication.
