KG3 Multiple Intelligences and Open House Activity 2016

On the 12th of February 2016 our Infants Department hosted their annual KG.3 Multiple Intelligences (M.I) and Open House activity from 8.30am -11.30am. This event aims to support our student’s abilities, talents and to showcase some of what they have been learning throughout the year.

During the event our school invited new parents to come and listen/receive further information about the theory of M.I and how our school uses this theory to aid our students learning experiences as well as having the chance to look around the school and get to see some of our students’ work.
At Sarasas Ektra School we encourage our students to develop themselves in various skills and areas of Intelligence: according to the M.I. theory. Throughout the year our school sets up several types of activities to support students using skills from many types of intellect as well as developing their own thinking and problem solving skills.
The day’s activities started with a short presentation outlining the theory of Multiple Intelligences and what it entails. After which, our students presented their own capabilities and skills through shows specially designed and directed by our foreign teachers.
           The activities were as follows:
The Infants Chorus show: presented a song called ‘The Queen of the Waves’ based around our theme the beach. Students sang and performed in English.
A Science Show: A short science presentation, in English, about thinking, finding logical reasoning and natural scientific phenomenons.
A Martial Arts show: Students showed their ability and skill in body movement, spatial awareness and martial arts such as kicking, punching etc.
A Hawaiian dance show: An international dance show casing the dance culture of Hawaii. Students with good skills in music, rhythm and body movement were specially chosen to perform.
An English drama show: Students performed a short drama in English titled ‘The Beach’ that was specially directed by some of our foreign teachers. Students who were more gifted in language and intrapersonal M.I skills were chosen to be a part of this show. The show taught students about the negativity of bullying and warned friends not to bully others but instead teaching love, harmony and protecting our environment (the beach).

As well as shows, there were also activity bases that students were able to join:
           1. Mathematics and Science Base – supported the M.I. Logical thinking skills – This base focused on Mathematical skills that taught students to think and analyze problems through games such as Sudoku etc.
           2. Thai language Base – supporting M.I. in Language skills. Students learnt and added skills in using language such as matching vocabulary etc.
           3. Art Base – supported M.I. in Visual- Spatial Awareness. Students learnt creative thinking through origami exercises.
           4. English language Base – supports M.I. in language skills. Students practiced their pronunciation skills in Phonics through many games etc.
           5. Thinking Base – supported M.I. in Intrapersonal and Visual- Spatial skills. Students learnt to think, imagine and create their own ideas through storytelling and drawing activities.
Throughout the day students and parents were able to join in with all the activities together both inside and outside of the classroom. Together, we got a chance to build up a mutual relationship between parents, teachers and students through learning activities and games.
