The 9th Happy Science Camp

           The 9th Happy Science Camp developed science awareness. It was hosted by the Science faculty in the Secondary Department from the 16th -20th March 2015. A total of 56 students and 10 teachers joined the camp. The camp concentrated on helping students learn and find ways to solve problems by themselves. There were many activities such as:
           1. Science in Action ways that students use scientific methods to analyze results systematically. Students use scientific methods to help solve daily life problems. The activities supported learning together, harmony, developing potential as well as creating ideas. Students conducted experiments in the lab for 2 days on 16th and 20th March 15.
           The experiments were:
           16th March 15
                - Dyeing cloth using natural colored dyes.
                - Paper doll balancing on a string line.
                - Animal footprint casting.
           20th March 15
                - Doll key chains made from dyed color cloth.

           2. Learning outside classroom a fieldtrip to Khao Yai and Wang Nam Khiao Districts, Nakhon Ratchasima Province for 3 days and 2 nights from the 17th – 19th March 15. The activities were:
           - Watching a slide presentation to learn the general information about Khao Yai National Park.
           - A nature walk activity at Nongphakchi. Students were divided into groups to do activities such as making leaf prints, taking photos of trees and finding the science names of them, learning about physiological factors and identifying what animals they could see in the night time. Each group of students collected their work from all the activities in a book called the “Big Book” and presented at the end of the activity.
           - Learning vinification: converting grapes of fruit into wine.
           - Learning how to plant organic vegetables.
           - Learning how to plant and cultivate mushrooms.
           - Forest conservation, whereby students used slingshots to shoot Afzelia xylocarpa (Makhaa mong) seeds into areas of the forest which needed regeneration. The students shot seeds at Pha Keb Tawan and Thap Lan National Parks.
