Year 10 Development Camp

Sarasas Ektra Secondary Department held a Year 10 development camp from the 29th-30th May 2015. It was an ongoing activity that helped students discover themselves as well as preparing them to study in Senior Secondary and get ready for University level. It also developed student virtue and ethics to help practice patience and harmony in a group dynamic. It developed love and a stronger relationship between school and students. There were 119 students and 22 teachers joining in this activity.
There were two activities on 29th May 2015 at 1.30pm-4.00pm
Activity 1: Sermon Priest Sam Sam on the topic “The way teenagers live in the society nowadays”. He taught students how to live their lives nowadays. There are 5 dangerous groups of teenagers: 1. Delinquent teenagers 2. Teenagers who like to go out at night. 3. Spoiled teenagers 4. Hi-So teenagers 5. Teenagers addicted to games. These kids are in danger and they are not a good role model for others. Moreover the priest mentioned five good things in student’s life: 1. Be a good kid for your parents 2. Know how to be patient 3. Be kind and modest 4. Care for yourself. Know how to develop yourself 5. Be shy such as speaking politely and wearing appropriate outfits that suit any occasion.
Activity 2 “School Identity”: there were 4 activity bases.
Base 1: Excellent in language (concentrate on public speaking). It was the activity that helped students practice introducing themselves. Students practiced language like there were in front of the camera. It helped students’ develop their personality when they introduced themselves.
Base 2: Music progress. Students created the song in their groups from the meaning of the word “R E S P E C T”.
Base 3: Be a good person in society. ใStudents brainstormed their ideas in writing about volunteer projects for school. It should be a projects that can be carried out for real. Teachers showed pictures of classrooms, a canteen and books that were organized neatly to help created good awareness. Students thought up two projects:
- Clean the floor project. Separating garbage before throwing it in a trash can, always throw it in a trash can. Responsibility in cleaning when assigned to do the job. Be discipline in not putting books on the floor.
- Be a good leader “decrease garbage” to help society and decrease world temperature. There is a campaign to grow more trees to decrease carbon dioxide, throw garbage in the trash can and recycle garbage.
Base 4: Taking care and guidance. Teachers counseled students how to study and be successful.
There were three activities on 30th May 2015 from 7.30 am-4.30 pm
Activity 1: Teachers and students offered food to five monks and listened to a sermon from the monks that taught to build concentration and intellect in learning and living their lives by prayer.
Activity 2: “Eagle returns home”. The school invited alumni members to tell of their experiences and guide Year 10 students about going to the University in their dreams. There were three sessions:
Session1 “Walking to success and Ektra regulations to help build students to be good people” by Ms. RinsitaTanaekkasetkul (Us The star 2) gradated Bachelor of Education, ChulalongkornUniversity, and 2 friends from batch 5, Bonnie and Pond.
Session 2 “Ektra activities helped increase potential” by Mr.Pakin (Napat) Pinyakamonchart batch 11 graduated, Bachelor of Business (BBA) in Marketing from Assumption University (ABAC).
Session 3 “Ektra always give good things to us” by Mr. Chalunthorn Hannirunkul batch 11. He is currently in his sixth year of the Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University.
- Activity 3 “RESPECT” base. There were 4 bases. The first two bases were showing respect in working together and the other two bases were describing the ideas of ‘self’.
1. “Respect country, religion, the king base”. Students sang a national song and prayed to build awareness for the country, the religion, the king.
2. “Respect your school base”. Students sang the school march to gain more love in their school.
3. “Respect teacher’s base”. Students watched a video clip on the “Respect Teacher’s Campaign”, showing them what they can and can’t do with teachers and how to respect teachers from their hearts.
4. “Respect yourself base”. Students wrote down their own values.
