Sarasas Ektra School

The Batch 18, Yr. 11 Leadership Camp

           was held from 8th -13th November 2015. Sarasas Ektra School took 119 Batch 18 Yr. 11 students to join the Leadership Camp; building their virtues and helping the local communities of 4 schools in Mae Wang District, Chiangmai Mai Province: Ban Mai Sawan School, Lao Pafang School, Wattoogsala School and Bangad School (Khemmawang). The camp activities included:

           - sharing academic knowledge with younger students in English, Mathematics, Science and Art using English as the teaching language.
           - playing sport activities to build relationships with students from each of the schools.
           - painting buildings and the playground areas to improve the look of schools. Also the students built a new BBL court.
           - presenting 5,000 baht worth of scholarships at each school.
           - donating items such as teaching aids, sports equipment, toys and other items to the students and the schools.

           Yr. 11 students also learned about local handicraft activities outside school from teacher at Baan Saladaeng. Students learnt using watercolors, molding clay and building Jong Dang (a Red Umbrella). After that students went bamboo rafting taking in the scenery of the Mae Wang River.

           The camp’s final activity was at Sarasas Ektra School on 20th November 2015: “A Northern Food Festival”. Students from each group set up a booth to present Northern foods such as Sai ua (Northern Thai sausage), fermented pork, green chili dip and pork snack etc. A photo exhibition portrayed the work of the students during the Leadership Camp in Chiang Mai. Presented in English it was very informative for the management, teachers and other students.

           This camp was important because it helped students to learn and practice teamwork, patience and created an awareness of public and civic duties. The camp was a great successful.
