On the 2nd of Decenber 2016, our school’s Primary Department hosted a memorial for the “Royal Birth Anniversary of His majesty King Rama IX.” On this occasion, teachers and pupils expressed their mourning over the king’s death and pledged their allegiance to him, taking a vow to use his teachings as a guide of their life sustenance. Moreover, the pupils had a chance to recall their fathers’ roles in and contributions to their families and society. As children, the students are advised to glorify their fathers’ virtues and, hence, feel gratitude towards their fathers.
The administrators’ representative read a eulogy in honor of King Bhumibol, followed by public prayers by the teachers’ representative. Next were a Thai octameter poem recitation and a speech by winning pupils of both contests. After that, all pupils sang the Royal Anthem together in four voices. They also sang Love Eternally, A Righteous King, and A King’s Tale.
