Songkran festival 2016 is Thai New Year's Daywas celebrated at Sarasas Ektra School on 12th April,2016. This activity aimed to let the students learn about the beautiful tradition, foster Thai custom, and help to conserve Thai tradition.
Primary and Secondary Department: - In the morning the religious ceremony was performed and school invited monks to chant holy stanzas and collect alms. The was for the teachers and students’good luck and prosperity for the up coming Thai calendar year. Additionally, this was a chance for teachers to give merit and to pay respects those who have passed away. In the afternoon the teachers and students sprinkled scented water onto a statue of Lord Buddha. Then everyone pouredwater on the hands of revered elders and asked for blessing, watched the Ektra Songkran parade and formed sand pagod as together. The last activity, which everyone had been eagerly anticipating, was the throwing of water. The students, Thai teachers, and foreign teachers had a great time throwing water on one another without using water guns or face powder.
Kindergarten Department: - The morning activity was a traditional Thai dance show by KG.3 students. Later in the afternoon the students from NC to KG.3, Thai teachers and foreign teachers participated in sprinkling scented water onto a statue of Lord Buddha, they pouredwater on the hands of revered elders and asked for blessings from them. Lastly, the KG.2 and KG.3 students splashed water on one another and had a great time.
