Kindergarten and Primary departments organized Loy Krathong festival on Thursday 22nd November so that students could learn about Thai culture and traditional recreation, and th processes of making krathongs. The activity also aimed at raising students’ awareness on proper uses of water and to apologize to the goddess of water, Phra Mae Khongkha, for any misuses they have made.
- Kindergarten Department : Special thanks go to parents of KG. 2 students for being instructors in activity stations and participating in the activities with the students. The different activity stations are listed below.
Station 1 : History of Loy Krathong Day - Students learned the history of Loy Krathong day. Parents and students enjoyed playing games about Loy Krathong Day together.
Station 2 : Loy Krathong and Thai traditional dessert - Students learned how to perform Thai traditional dance and enjoy it together. Then students learned how to make Thai traditional dessert.
Station 3 : Making Krathong - Students learned how to make krathongs, how to fold the banana leaves and how to arrange the flowers beautifully in the krathong.
Station 4 : Goddess of Water Apology - Students asked the Goddess for forgiveness, then floated thier krathongs.
Station 5 : Educational Games - Students enjoyed playing Krathong jigsaw games.
Station 6 : Thai traditional recreation - Students were taught how to play Thai traditional games such as riding horses made of banana tree stems.
- Primary Department : Students watched a video about Loy Krathong Day, played Loy Lrathong quiz games, and played Thai traditional games such as Mon Son Pa, Ree Ree Khao San, and Ngu Kin Hang. Then Thai teachers, foreign teachers, and students did the Thai traditional dance “Ram Wong” together and floated their krathongs in the pools provided.
