of the 19th Junior Science Talent Project 2016 (senior secondary level).
Of 98 participants in total, 41 participants—among whom was Mr Saksilpa Srisukson—passed this round.
As a participant, Mr Saksilpa Srisukson submitted his first draft titled “The Study of the Relations between the Formation of the Mass of Particles and the Gravitational Field of the General Theory of Relativity,” a hypothesis on the relations between how the mass of particles is formed and how the gravitational force is created according to the theory of relativity. This study requires advanced mathematical knowledge in problem-solving. Mr Saksilpa Srisukson participated in the first selection round of the competition held between May 16th and 19th and was trained in the fundamentals of how to undertake research. While he was at the competition, he was closely mentored by Assistant Professor Sikarin Yoo-Kong, a lecturer in the Physics Department of King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, in how to further conduct his research and what he should do to improve it. The other two rounds of this competition were set to be held in October and March respectively to enable participants to present the progress they have made and their completed work. Those who pass the second round will be given scholarships and research funds to further their studies until they have completed their PhD degrees. The objective of this project is to select scientifically and technologically talented people to become quality academics, researchers and scientists who can make great contributions to our country. |
