Sarasas Ektra continued with its long tradition of holding Christmas Drama shows during the build up to the Christmas and New Year festivities. The shows were held at different campuses and were held between 17th -20th Dec. 2017 for all students from Nursery to Year 12.
For Infants (NC – KG3) there were shows in the morning (from the 17th) and the shows were held on Crescent Court 1 (in front of Dominic 1). On the first day the Infants chorus performed too led by Miss Monique and Miss Mary. They performed two Christmas Carols - Drummer Boy and Jingle Bells.
In Primary (Year 1 – Year 6) all shows were performed on the stage in the Auditorium spread over two sessions per day (morning and afternoon) from 17th to 20th December. Every morning the audience was greeted with a performance from some of our talented students (and teachers), they included The Ektra Junior Chorus, Primary Senior Chorus, Ektra Band and a Teacher’s band. All of them sang and performed wonderfully!
In our Secondary Department (Soi 26) Christmas Shows were held in the Crescent Court, with both morning and afternoon sessions on the 18th, 19th & 20th December. Each day, opening words were given by Mr. Phil Langley, and that was followed by the school choir doing a number of songs including some Christmas classics. On the final day, all students were in attendance to watch the performances by the Y.12 classes. There were parents in the audience, and this year they witnessed some of the best ever English language skills – from all year levels.
Students in every Department had an opportunity to showcase their acting, musical and linguistic talents on the stage in front of a live audience. Opportunities like this provide excellent experience for our students and we hope that it will provide them with the confidence to develop and use their English speaking skills in a practical and public setting.
For the shows, Foreign and Thai homeroom teachers directed all the performances. Experiences such as the Christmas shows give our students the chance to also learn important life skills during their practices and rehearsals; such as teamwork, patience, problem solving and time management. All the shows were marvelous and parents, teachers and students enjoyed watching the performances.
