Sarasas Ektra School held its Christmas Drama shows during the build up to the Christmas and New Year festivities from 17th -23rd Dec. 2019. As per tradition, every class in the school from Nursery to Year 12 had a chance to showcase their English acting. singing and dancing skills.
For Infants (NC – KG3) there were shows in the morning (from the 17th) and the shows were held in a Christmas Wonderland on the 7th floor of Dominic 2. On the first day the Infants chorus performed too led by Miss Monique. The Infants Choir performed 2 songs - a Christmas classic 'Christmas in Our Hearts' and a Sia hit 'Santa's Coming For Us'
In Primary (Year 1 – Year 6) all shows were performed on the stage in the Auditorium spread over two sessions per day (morning and afternoon) from 17th to 23rd December 2019. Every morning the audience had a chance to enjoy wonderful performances from some of our talented students (and teachers), which included The Ektra Junior Chorus led by Ms Gramaire, Primary Senior Chorus led by Ms Pimsiri and a Teacher’s band.
In our Secondary Department (Soi 26) Christmas Shows were held in the Crescent Court, with both morning and afternoon sessions on the 19th, 20th & 23rd December. Each day, opening words were given by Mr. Phil Langley, and that was followed by the school choir doing a number of songs including some Christmas classics. On the final day, all students were in attendance to watch the performances by the Y.12 classes. There were parents in the audience, and this year they witnessed some of the best ever English language skills – from all year levels, which also included acting and singing roles from our Thai and Foreign Teachers.
The school is very proud of our Christmas show tradition as it gives the students an opportunity to use English in creative and new ways. To have a chance to perform and use English in front of a live audience is priceless. It gave all students at the school a chance to build their confidence and opportunities to use English practically. Additional skills and benefits are how all students (and teachers) would have developed teamwork and problem solving skills, whilst developing a sense of pride and unity with their peers.
For the shows, Foreign and Thai homeroom teachers directed all the performances.
All the shows were splendid and parents, teachers and students enjoyed watching the performances.
Judging panels were set up individually (as per Department) and the categories for the awards are detailed as below.
